NaNoWriMo's over. I managed a little over 6700 words. Pfft. But that's still more than I've written for one story in over a year, so I'm still proud of what little I did. I'll work on improving my writing habits so I can do better next year.

Under the cut is the first section of the story (Suikoden fanfic) I wrote for NaNo -- tentatively called "Shards" or "Chaotic Shards" for now. No editing, no revising; I just let the writing take me where it wanted to. It's interesting how the story became divided by perspectives along the way; it had happened before I realized it. I still need to decide if I'll post this thing once it's completed or in finished Revolutions.

‘Plotting’ has such negative connotations. )

Finished Final Fantasy XIII a few days ago. I can't muster up the desire to go back and play out the missions I didn't finish, now that I've finished the game. Oh well.

Video game lists for my records )

Also blazed through re-watching The Colony and all of my Mythbusters DVDs. I need something else to play in the background while I'm working. Hrm...

So I decided to just go ahead and by that SmartDraw program. It seemed to have a lot of applications for what it is. And if it isn't too useful, it was only $200, right?

...Yeah. I'll be missing that $200.

I've been thinking about this for a long, long while, but I've been wanting to write more Suikoden stuff. I have another epic idea about the original Suikoden world and how it ties into the Suikoden Tierkreis mechanics, but ... bah. I haven't finished a story since The Insane.

Maybe I should actually focus on writing something that's already partly written. Like EHW or Tabularasa. EHW was heading into darker territory with Pesmerga in the picture and I ran into a mental block trying to figure out Caesar and Apple's dialogue with an amnesiac Albert.

Since I would have to scrap the current story if I ever decided to go back to the idea, here's part of a chapter that never got finished. I like to think my writing's gotten better since I gave up on this fic.

Tabularasa ~ The Pieces of You, Chapter 7: The World Freezes )

Off to bed now.

Edit: Why is it that I'm hearing Sasarai referred to as a Bishop General in RP nowadays? Was something retconned? Because I'm pretty sure they consistently called him a Bishop (or sometimes Priest in Suikoden II's garbled translations). Priests and High Priest Hikusaak in Japanese, and Bishops and Chief Bishop Hikusaak in English.

Oh wait. I'm not taking the manga into account, am I? It just seems redundant, considering what a Bishop is in Harmonia -- a political official and general. It'd be like calling Albert a strategist-tactician.

Ages ago, I wrote a few chapters of a fic entitled Tabularasa. Suikoden III, post-game, starring Albert and Caesar Silverberg. It was a good fic, but I had reached that point where writing grew difficult and I just never worked up the strength to write more. Like so many other stories, it died.

I'm now posting a fic bit I wrote about after the story ended. Seeing as that's looking like it's not going anywhere either, I'm just posting it in my writing journal.

( Tabularasa ~ Guide My Hand )

...Oh, by the way, that'd be a fake cut above. It leads to my writing journal.

At my parents' house cleaning my room today. So many memories in these old papers, and over 10 years of old writing... Geez, I was so obsessed with FF7 that I printed out stat sheets, wrote all over my notebooks, and printed out my own fanfiction. Yikes.

I also dropped out of [livejournal.com profile] suiko_rpg last night. It was a long time coming... I think Vortexx is looking to be the next casualty (probably gonna drop Luxord, at least). That or Discedo. >__>

So many songs inspiring me right now.

"Queen of the Night" - Yuber & Red; drabble aftermath
"Wake Up Call" - Yuber & Red
"Voodoo" - Albert & Yuber maybe?

Will keep adding to list as I keep clean.

This is exactly what I shouldn't be doing at midnight. *shakes head* I can't write Axel for life of me. And Sora's dialogue is so much fun to write.

Title: Untitled; tentatively The Threat of Remembrance
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Characters: The main story revolves around Sora, Kairi, and the apprentices
[Prologue] Axel, Marluxia, Ansem
[Chapter 1] Sora, Kairi, Dilan, Braig, Even, Ienzo, Aeleus

[Prologue] He felt like kicking himself now, knowing he had placed those close to him in danger. )

[Chapter 1] 'We were gonna build a raft today, but I took a long nap instead.' )

Bleh. I can't seem to do anything productive at home. Which is weird, because I'm actually doing some writing once in awhile. *gestures at meme below* Hm. Here's hoping I actually feel productive when I get back to the apartment.

Graduation's on Saturday. I ... don't know what to think. My brain's kinda shut down or something. O_o

So, zeal_goddess, your LiveJournal reveals...

You are... 3% unique (blame, for example, your interest in silverberg brothers) and 7% herdlike (partly because you, like everyone else, enjoy writing). When it comes to friends you are popular. In terms of the way you relate to people, you are keen to please. Your writing style (based on a recent public entry) is conventional.

Your overall weirdness is: 34

(The average level of weirdness is: 27.
You are weirder than 74% of other LJers.)

Find out what your weirdness level is!

If you happen to be working on some creative writing project, fanfiction or NaNoWriMo or what have you, post one sentence (or more) from each of your current work(s) in progress in your journal. It should probably be your favourite or most intriguing sentence so far, but what you choose is entirely your discretion.

Just a bit of the modern fic ... Sarah angst! )

I wrote this a good year and a half ago. I'm posting this because I'm scrapping it and it's too long to just hide away.

Anyone who's heard me talk about JS knows the synopsis. It's a twisted futuristic Suikoden story.

Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have fewer than 50
interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and
seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over
seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than
ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly
what it is about these things that interests you so much.

Auron -- Though I'm not fond of tons of angst, Auron's turmoil was a lot of fun to read into. He puts a nice, different spin on coming back for revenge, and he's cool. >_>

Fanfiction -- I love writing. I love characters that don't belong to me. Add those together, mix in some crazy ideas and inspiration, and you've got an undeniable interest in fanfiction.

Harry Potter -- ... Yeah, for some reason, no one ever pins me as a Harry Potter fan. I don't read "real books" often anymore, but the hype of Harry Potter made me jump the bandwagon back when Goblet of Fire was still new. Since then, every time I read a new book, I get interested in the world again.

Kuja -- I stick to the belief that Kuja was a better villain than Sephiroth ... flamboyant attire aside.

Nippon Ichi -- Disgaea. Makai Kingdom. Yep...

Rufus Shinra -- Once upon a time, I was called the most obsessed Rufus fan on the 'net. T_T Ah, I miss those times... The hair-flipping arrogance got me interested. The rest was 14-year-old squeeing.

Skies of Arcadia -- Ramirez!! *points wildly at icon* Poor, deluded fool...

Ten Wise Men -- Gabriel. Lucifer. Zadkiel. Raphael. Kamael. Haniel. Michael. Jophiel. Metatron. And ... Zaphikel. Wish there was more character development with 'em.

Vincent Valentine -- Back when I loved angst, I really liked Vincent. He's currently just an accessory to other pretty guys, but I'm sure Dirge of Cerberus will give him meaning again.

In other news, the flurry of people trying to download Advent Children and all that stuff is dizzying. I expect a boatload of FF7 fanfics to show up again sometime soon. I just wanna see the Turks... I can remember seeing some of the first pictures of Sephiroth in Advent Children, and all I could think was "Sheesh, he looks ugly. His bangs aren't even pronounced like in the game."

We had a stray cat roaming around the house two days ago. We brought it to the animal shelter yesterday. Hopefully it'll find a good home.

In other news, our parakeets are finding some way out of the aviary. Carni and Duke got out yesterday (and since then been caught and returned) and now Aqua's out today. Ugh.

If I wasn't lazy, I would probably put this drabble on my writing LJ.

But, since I'm lazy, it's going here.

Instruments of Destruction, Suikoden I and IV references )

... It's sad when a drabble takes several days to complete.

Got the eighth and ninth seasons of Friends from my brother as a sorta belated birthday gift. 'Been watching them quite a bit. Just one more season and I've got the whole set. Whoo. @_@

I'm back on a Backstreet Boys stint, listening every chance I get. I blame the song "Beautiful Woman." *plays it at least 80 times a day*

Started skimming back on old Final Fantasy favorites from FF.net. Some fanfics are just good enough to get you emotional with one chapter. Lovely, lovely.

Speaking of Final Fantasy, I'm obsessing over Shinra again with this rut in Suikoden inspiration. Rufus is back to being my muse after Albert's two-year reign. *waves byebye to Suikoden ideas* It's to the point where I'm digging up that five-year-old idea of Rufus going insane and slaughtering all the executives.

... In other news...

My mom wants me to keep a diary of our pet birds, since Jack and Jill's first egg just hatched today. The little chick is so ... ... yellow.

So... I guess I'll list the birds right off, starting with our original four budgies and moving on to the most recent additions.

Marigold -- lutino female(?) budgie
Aqua -- skyblue clearflight male budgie
Shadow -- cobalt blue clearflight male budgie; killed by predator
Nature -- dark green normal male budgie; lost right leg a few weeks ago
Duke -- dark green normal male budgie
Harmony -- albino female budgie; killed by predator
Jack -- normal (possibly pearl) male cockatiel; Jill's mate
Jill -- pearl female cockatiel; Jack's mate -- currently four fertile eggs, one hatched
Hansel -- half-lutino (had black eyes...) male budgie; Gretel's mate; killed by predator
Gretel -- yellowface blue female budgie; Hansel's mate
Carni -- mauve (or possibly dark gray) clearflight female budgie; baby of the bunch
Yuki -- beautiful white female budgie with cobalt blue and black marking along spine (recessive pied?)

Now I have to get ready for another trip to Seattle. We're gonna get a pair of lovebirds...
