One more day until American Thanksgiving

Why is it that, every time I comment on something in one of my LJ entries, I want to do the exact opposite? Like, as soon as I mentioned how weird it would be for me to consider writing an original novel right now, I get ideas. What the heck, self. Do I just want to prove myself wrong or something?

And whaaaaaaat. Why do I have an article on this wiki? Did they just pick everything and everyone out of FF.net and slap it up there? 8| Man, it's not even my good fanfiction anymore. 2007 was forever ago. Maybe I should be going "fuck yeah!" that I got the name "Athena" in that wiki.

...With that detour over, the original story idea involves combining two or three past Epic Novels I had used and not been able to flesh out. One story's magic system, another's plot and characters, another's ... land. Maybe. Probably take one story's characters and make them the gods of that universe. One of the lovely things about writing fantasy is that you don't need to dig too deeply into the sciences behind cloning -- magic is just awesome that way.

It'd probably loosely follow what little I'd mapped out in RPGMaker a few years ago. Man, I need to get another copy of it so I can work it again. ...Just another distraction I'd be adding to my pile of stuff.

I also want a place I can RP Albert. Luceti's great and everything, but sometimes I feel so out of sorts with what's going on flist/plot-wise that I want to find something else to do. Kinda the reason I joined Damned. But Albert's my favorite character to play, and I ... don't really want to throw him into another game because that'd require canon review to get his "original voice" back. [livejournal.com profile] dear_mun is too much about the mun for me to put Albert out there, too. I wish Caesar was still around, but life's such a kick in the pants sometimes. Why so selfish, self.

Someone wanna help me revive [livejournal.com profile] gensodressing and make it inhabitable? :|

Have you tried DRs yet? I know a lot of them are pretty cracky, but they're pretty good for one-time muses and just fulfilling that urge. Course, I'm not exactly one to speak since I'm in five games, but if you ever need someone to play Albert off, I'm here. ♥

Fanhistory just copy/pasted just about everyone from FF.net. You can request your entry be deleted; I did. Last thing I needed was one of the many insane people out there posting my real name and such. Yeaaah. Also, I take issue with fanhistory b/c I was told that the girl running it is making money off it. So, yeah.

I'd love to play on gensodressing but my Suikoden muses are kind of dead at the moment. ~__~

................

oh god. I'm listed on there too. [Edit:] Oh I guess a lot of people were ganked for that. Still it's just weird to be listed there. I haven't touched ff.net in years. :|;;

/also misses Caesar. :(

/... and actually responds to the rest of entry.

This Original Story idea sounds pretty interesting though; if you need someone to bounce ideas off of, you're welcome to throw them at me.

i have one too wtf.

[identity profile] relares.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure that site just uses some kind of program to get stuff off of FF.net. I had forgotten about it, to tell you the truth.

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
There really isn't a stable DR for Suikoden. They've tried in the past, but something or another always killed it off. >_> I've thought about 8_dressing, but that's ... huge. Thanks for the offer, Saica. ♥

[identity profile] seraphjewel.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm amused. I'm on there too, and my page is sadly outdated.

Good luck if you decide to write that story~

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually found it because of your entry about Cassandra Claire (Clare or whatever) awhile back. >_> Weird. I don't see anything offensive about my article since I don't do anything on the site anymore, but ... yeeeah, I understand your situation. :( And wtf getting money off of keeping track of fandom? That's bizarre.

No worries. It happens to everyone.

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeeeah. Dunno how to feel about it.

[identity profile] karthur.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
There wasn't anything offensive about mine but since people could freely edit, I'd hate to see someone like Laz put up there that I was married to him and having his spirit children. Or worse >__>

Totally bizarre.

Ironically, the character I feel the most comfortable with at the moment is Sam Beckett from Quantum Leap. Yeah, I don't get it either...

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I wonder what the cutoff was for you to get pulled onto that wiki? FF.net is huge, so ... I wonder if they have articles for people who just have accounts there? :|;

I'll think about it. Getting anyone up to speed on my thought process for stories is an epic adventure. A few people on my flist can probably testify to how long and drawn out my ideas get. We're talking hours here.

[identity profile] yo-san.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, as others have mentioned, that place has a lot of people. I'm just glad that they haven't managed to track me after Fanfiction.net. I can live with what I have on there, bad as it might be. (And I can tell whoever does that is not interested much in me, because they missed the story I took down due to the new rule about no scripts. ...Why do I still call it the new rule when it was probably at least 5 years ago?)

Good luck with the original story. I'm rather entertained by the idea of taking earlier characters and making them the gods of a later work. That would be fun.

I was pretty sure I knew of a general dressing room other than [livejournal.com profile] 8_dressing, but I can't think of it now.

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm amused (and surprised), too. I think I'd be creeped out if they pulled info out of the profile, though. That'd be a bit much.

Thanks Kacey~

[identity profile] greyangel.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
They apparently have me tagged on a 'symphonia fans' one too, which might prompt the more recent notice. The list doesn't include the older works that I've lost completely, though...

Allrighty :|b It's not like I'm not used to that sort of thing, especially considering my own thought processes. I just thought I'd put the thought out there that I was interested in hearing about it.

I need to finish Suikoden III so I can toy around with characters just to have the muses around. Not sure what I'd end up doing with that, though.

[identity profile] regalblaze.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry to hear about that. =|

I'm trying to think of DRs right off the top of my head, but all I can think about is [livejournal.com profile] thedressingroom and [livejournal.com profile] aooh. I'm sure you can find something if you search hard enough?

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't be surprised, with the way that wiki is set up. The terms Kingdom Hearts and Digimon go to descriptions of the game/anime, but Suikoden goes to a FF.net author. :|;

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, same here; I had a totally different account that was hijacked and all my stories deleted. I was actually on FF.net as early as ... 2001 or so. If it's an automated program like Silvie mentioned, it wouldn't be surprising it missed something like that.

I don't think I'd even know where to start. ...Well, okay, maybe not. You'd probably want to know about the character was that originally Albert in another story. :|

I wouldn't be surprised if you took to Apple and got her as a muse.

[identity profile] griffins.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
...I can't find myself on there, when I wrote stuff as long ago as you did, Athena.

I'm not sure if I should be happy or depressed.

[identity profile] greyangel.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
For me it was 2000, I think. Which doesn't seem right, but... yikes. Talk about a long time ago. I've also changed my name on there several times, but they only have the most recent one listed. Ironically they also have the "shared accounts" I've had with people listed as well. But those stories never went anywhere, which was sad. It's fun writing collaborative.

Orly 8)! Well, as far as starting points go, sometimes it's easier to pick one aspect out of the many - focusing on a smaller idea rather than a larger one, and lead into it that way. For example, like what you've just said 8)! And from there you can expand on what originated the idea, backstory and possible evolutions from that point. The best thing about explaining in text conversations is that you can just look back over what has been said already and just build on it, or fill in something you realize you left out. ... Which sounds a whole lot more complicated than it actually is, but it's different once you get rolling with it. Kind of like theory, in a way.

I'm that predictable, huh :P We'll see what happens.

[identity profile] puddingtreat.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a page there too, found out about it a while ago and it's a bit freaky. :/ Then again, a lot of people seem to have one.

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I have trouble with collaborative because writing styles kinda need to jive for things to work out. I've only really collaborated with one or two people though, so my experiences are probably not that much to shape a real opinion off of.

tl;dr -- We'll see how things roll out once a starting point is decided on. :| And let's not talk about theory. God, in retrospect, that was awful. /soooob

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
The tragedy of small-ish fandoms. :|;

I'll definitely give it some thought. It's not like there's a shortage of vehicles to use to take care of that RP itch.

[identity profile] greyangel.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
This is true. But sometimes it's just the fun of pooling ideas together and seeing what comes of it. I'm just a little sad that more never really came out of it past the idea-pooling process beyond a chapter or two. Not even, in some attempts.

N-no worries. :(

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here. ...Now that I think about it, I'm glad it doesn't capture my hijacked account and the stories that were there. Some of those ideas were awfully contrived, even for a 15-year-old's mind. (Just like the "new feature" of being able to reply to comments in PMs. The perspective of someone who remembers the "good old days" of FF.net.)

Thanks! Granted, by the end of the novel idea, the characters had ascended to something resembling godhood, but I had never thought of establishing them as gods in another story.

Saica mentioned a few things, but I'm sure there's others out there. Something to research, I guess. >_>

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 10:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Okay, now that I've gotten over the whole embarrassment of the badly-timed theory session, I guess it's ... fine. Good. It's been awhile since we've actually RPed out Albert and Raine theorizing stuff. "Our theory?" So quick to claim credit, Professor.

[identity profile] greyangel.livejournal.com 2009-11-25 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
D-don't worry about it. It was fun at the time, before all of that ... ... other stuff happened. And since their threads run long lately, it's not as if any of this current stuff can't be addressed in it anyway. Whups. I'm not sure how that ended up happening. It can be fixed? ._.

[identity profile] thegamehiker.livejournal.com 2009-11-26 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
Man, Suikoden RPing. It's been so long, hasn't it...

I really should fix that.

... What the hell, why do I have a page too? Good god this needs to be deleted, all my stuff was back when I wrote "for the lulz" and thought I was teh best evur.

[identity profile] fuckyeahfish.livejournal.com 2009-11-26 07:07 am (UTC)(link)
All my old accounts with awful fic writing are on that thing. I don't know, I think they just like listing everyone ever.

I'd help with the DR, but then again, I barely pay attention to the comms I already have so... :|;;;
