Fucking... Gah.
My little brother called me while I was still at work. Said that we had gotten a 3-day notice to vacate the premises and was asking if I had the paperwork from when we resigned our lease to find out what the fuck had happened. I said I didn't have it and had given it to our mom, and he sounded so intensely serious (which is so unlike him) when he said our mom didn't have it. So I dropped all my work and started walking home. -_-
All the way home, I was panicking and wondering if I had done something wrong. With my older brother out of the apartment with an internship to Intel, I'm in charge of talking to management about paying rent and making sure Kathryn pays her part of the rent. So, of course, I worried that the check I dropped in the payment box hadn't gotten to management, or maybe the rent for next month was due earlier because we had a recent change of management. Whatever the reason, I kept hoping this was fixable.
So I get into the apartment and my brother says that management admitted they messed up the paperwork. Apparently they didn't take into consideration our payment discount (which we got for resigning the lease) and whoever calculated the costs for the paperwork didn't think it was a little STRANGE that just about HALF of the tenants in the apartment didn't pay their full rent for the month.
Fucking DUH, man.
