Now some afterthoughts...

Lucius. Draco. Narcissa. The Malfoys. ... Um, those are my favorite characters, to connect this to my last post. I am filled with immense, still-disbelieving joy that none of them died. Maybe it's the way of the Malfoys to survive no matter what, but it made me gleeful that--when it came down to it--Lucius and Narcissa dropped all pretenses of supporting Voldemort to find their son.

Take that, all you ruddy fanfic authors who think Draco's abused. =_= And he didn't take the Dark Mark. That was surprising! ... No wonder the Malfoys got tortured so much throughout the book. >_>

It would have been shocking if Snape had survived. There was too much building up towards a glorious moment of realization where he was concerned ... but I think I've read too many fanfics, because I wasn't surprised by the whole chapter dedicated to his love of Lily. >_> Hm. I bawled at the fact that Harry named his second son after Dumbledore and Snape.

I bawled a lot through the book.

Mm ... what else? I was shocked by Fred's death. George had already lost an ear, and I couldn't help but think that it would be Percy that would die. ... I'm incredibly glad that Percy came by, though. I'd been waiting for him to return since the sixth book, and I was happy to see him throw that joke that Thicknesse--you know, right before Fred died. =\

I don't know what to think about Lupin and Tonks' deaths, though. I just ... was numb, uncomprehending, as I read that. It just didn't make sense in my head. It seemed very "WHY?" to me, that they died off-screen and everything. ... Geez... I liked them a lot, too. Not as much as the Malfoys and Snape, but Lupin... *sighs*

Kreacher's backstory and transformation made me cry a lot. I was incredibly glad that he was happy in the end, and that he had a good master. I totally forgave him for being as he was in the other books, simply because his relationship with Regulus was so touching. And the fact that Harry gave him Regulus' locket made me have to stop reading to find tissues. Heh.

Awfully funny that Mrs. Weasley finished off Bellatrix. Seeing Mrs. Weasley fighting knocked me for a loop, it was so unexpected, but I'm glad she had her moment. So cool.

I was also very happy that Hagrid survived the entire book. Every time he showed up, from the ambush at the beginning to disappearing during the Hogwarts battle, I kept thinking "He's gonna die. Dammit, he's going to die. ;_;" The image of him carrying Harry's body and crying... *sighs again*

... And even after all of that, I can't help but wonder what happened to the Dursleys. I guess it's because Dudley ended up being an okay guy. And I really wanted to know what Petunia had any sort of regret or anything to say to Harry before she left. Her relationship with Lily and Snape certainly made me think about how much she really knew.

And I'm out of things to think about. Other than the fact that Draco was briefly the master of the Elder Wand made me laugh terribly. Ahh... A good book. A good ending. Not totally what I would have wanted, but I'll take what I can get.

edit: Uprooted my predictions from HP&HBP.

-- Draco will survive the series. Yep.

-- Snape will not. Yep. :(

-- Ron and Hermione will be a definite item. Still surprised I made a leap for that...

-- Slughorn will still be on the teaching staff. Slughorn. ♥ He provided some much needed comedy in Hogwarts.

-- Dumbledore will come back. *hides in shield of denial* He did. I'm amazed, but he did. *shield of denial*

-- McGonagall will become Headmaster and Tonks will take over Transfiguration. (Hey, not ALL of these have be believable. >_>) Snape being Headmaster was even better. :D

-- Gwarp will be around again. Yep!

-- Snape will kill Wormtail. Nope. :o But Wormtail managed to off himself. O_o

-- Neville will kill Bellatrix. I still think that would've been awesome, considering what the Lestranges did to his parents. But Neville did awesome things outside of that.

-- R.A.B. = Regulus A. Black Arcturus. Awesome middle name. :D

While I haven't read the book (and I don't mind the spoilers since I don't think I even WILL read it for a while), I was kind of expecting either Snape or Remus to die. Fred and Tonks, though? Gah. :(

Yeah, there was a lot of death in this book. >_> More people died, but I just listed the ones closer to the end of the book because theirs were fresher in my head.

Ginny.

(Unfortunately. I loathe her. >>)

I loved, loved, loved the light shed on the Malfoys, especially that Lucius too loves his son. And I used to be so what-the-hell-is-all-the-fuss-regarding-the-Malfoys-about - but I have come to love them. (I thought that Draco was going to die sacrificing himself for Harry, at first. What an absurd thought that was. They're the Malfoys, for God's sake! Like you said - they just survive.)

BUT LUPIN. WHY.

Also, yay Neville!

I'm artfully ignoring some deaths since they made no sense, and I can. :D (Though in all honesty, her writing in the last two books has been poo. *ducks and runs*)

I cried off and on like the last 200 or so pages, and I thought I'd be okay in the last chapter... until he explained Albus' middle name. Oh man. I lost it. And I didn't even like Snape that much!

Though I'm not a fan of the Malfoys... Draco, abused? Oh, el oh el fandom. There may have been some strictness, but I'm sure Cissy and Lucy (ahaahahha oh god *dodges flying metal objects from all parts of the fandom*) treated Draco well.

Pretty much agree with everything else (not counting predictions).

I also loved the fact that Lucius and Narcissa were so worried about their son that they actually left teh dark lord just to find him. I was like "aaawww".

I was also shocked by Fred's death, and the deaths of Lupin and Tonks. And all they got was a mention ;_;

And I wasn't the only one worried about Hagrid. I was all like "noooo Hagrid" a couple of times, but he has survived, thankfully.
