Tales of Legendia - Rediscovery, part 1

So much for going to sleep at a decent time. I hate that nagging feeling of "Must finish writing this thing," especially when there's no good reason to heed it. Whatever. I'm going to hate myself in the morning anyway. Ugh.

Title: Rediscovery
Fandom: Tales of Legendia
Characters: Madame Musette, Walter
Summary: "She believed that Nerifes brought him to her. She did not know why, and she was hardly in the position to question."
Notes: Definitely not a finished idea. Title could change. ...Lots of things could change with this. I could just trash the idea; I'm not even sure I should be writing this.

As a person of the earth, a land dweller, she did not know of or revere the sea god as she grew up. The entity remained an enigma even now, though no one would forget the day eres had inexplicably disappeared from the Legacy—and the world. She had long believed in the power of gods, as well as their role in the shaping of humanity; she could not have ascended to the rank of Holy Sovereign without some belief in what was beyond the range of mortal understanding.

She believed that Nerifes brought him to her. She did not know why, and she was hardly in the position to question.

They had never met, her and this boy; she had a long memory, and his face was certainly not a part of it. And she had discovered him all by her lonesome, his body washed up on the beaches near Lumen Spring.

“Dear child, what are you doing so far from home?” she asked the unconscious boy, pillowing his head on her lap. “And how on earth am I going to get you assistance?”

The Ferines boy offered no answers, leaving Musette to ponder her choices in silence.

+ + + + +

In the end, Musette made the journey back towards Werites Beacon alone and was intercepted by Isabella. It didn’t take long at all for Isabella to hunt down Curtis, and soon enough Musette was directing the Bantam Bouncers on where to find the boy.

She was an old lady after all, and the long journeys to and fro were best left to the younger and more able-bodied. Curtis, strapping man that he was, carried the injured blond back, while Isabella provided moral support. Together, they made their way over to her home, where Isabella put the boy to bed without a word.

That was the wonderful thing about Curtis and Isabella; there was an implicit trust between them and Musette. They did not question whether Musette knew what she was doing or not, nor did they appear overly concerned about the Ferines boy they had brought into her home. Everyone knew that she was in perfect control of the situation.

She would have to eventually ask a certain informant of hers if there were any missing Ferines boys that Maurits was looking for. But it was still early after that unfortunate … unrest involving Nerifes, and the chief had an entire village to take care of. She could see to the care of one boy for him.

Or perhaps the boy could supply her with his name, whenever he awoke.

Sadly, life was rarely so simple and accommodating.
