Tales of Legendia AU - Orange Gels

A reposting of what I put on todrooc months ago -- May 9, 2008, to be exact. It made sense to put it on my LJ before I lost track of it. This was actually the first of the AU ficlets to be written.

He was by no means a light sleeper. Given the chance to sleep in past noon, he would have done it in a heartbeat. If he was exhausted (which was more often than he would care to admit), he was dozing as soon as he hit the bed -- or ground, as had been for the last week.

But there was absolutely no way that he could ignore the shrieking of his traveling companion.

Norma pouted as she noticed the young man on the ground glaring at her, stopping her random flailing to march over and drop their half-empty item bag on his blond head. "Wally, we're out of orange gels."

"I know; I heard you the first six times," Walter grumbled from underneath the deposited object. "Complaining about it isn't going to change anything."

"We're not avoiding the next town we see, okay? Soldiers or no soldiers!"

"Are you insane?" Still from under the leather sack. "We'll get caught."

Norma responded by placing her foot on top of the bag, putting pressure on her traveling companion's head. "You need to live a little. You're in disguise, aren't you? They won't recognize you!"

"They'll know," Walter responded, now beneath the bag and Norma's heel.

"Not unless they pull that funky turban off of you," Norma sighed, jabbing at his head again. "And we could take care of that problem..."

Her traveling companion finally moved from his sprawled position, pushing the item bag off of his head to glare up at Norma. "What is it with you and shaving my head?"

"I've never done it before -- it sounds like fun, you know?"

"Then do it with your own head."

Norma visibly pouted. "That's not fun."

Walter rolled his eyes, taking hold of Norma's foot and pulling it forward. This time, he ignored her shrieking, laying his head back down to go to sleep.

Why, of all the Orerines to travel with, did he have to pick the crazy one?
