Suikoden Chaos

Man, Tierkreis makes me remember Suikoden Chaos, the RP that I co-modded a few years ago. I'm feeling inspired to actually continue writing the story... I forget if the fanfic idea sprouted from the RP or if the RP sprouted from the fanfic idea. I: In The Beginning

It all began when the world ended.

Sounds farfetched, I know, but trust me—that’s when the troubled started.

Anyway, back to the end of the world. From what I’ve heard, it ended in a spectacular light show. I wasn’t actually present at the end of the world, but I have reliable sources. Really. But you’re not obligated to believe me.

So the end came suddenly when the two incarnations of Chaos and Order battled. I think you might’ve heard about them, or at least one of them—the black knights Yuber and Pesmerga. At first glance, the two may appear human, but they’re anything and everything but. (Heh, try saying that five times fast.) Apparently the two have been playing some deranged game of “tag” or “hide and seek” with the climax being a duel.

Long story short, Yuber won, and the world was shot to hell.

To be more specific, the world as you and I knew it ceased to exist—the future disappeared, the present stopped, and the past no longer had meaning. Chaos defeated all logic of time and space, and all life disappeared.

The only things left within the void were the True Runes.

Now here’s where we come in. That’s right, you too. You see, the True Runes have memories, and those memories are what maintain everything you see and touch now; the True Runes have created what we see—the castle of Toran and the expanse of Toran landscape—for our benefit, for our sanity. And we are here as players on a stage, forced to play towards an end.

As individuals bound together by the wars over True Runes, we are here under their power to restore the natural order. We have been charged with an important task: to gather Shards that will, somehow, help us fight against Yuber and the legions of Chaos that have poured forth over the world we once knew. How? Why? What are these Shards? How many are there?

Well, no one knows. Or no one’s telling me, at least. Things can’t always be that simple, no? What I do know is that the True Runes can’t gather the Shards themselves because they cannot coexist without breaking the Shards further.

So the True Runes have reached back into the stopped timeline and pulled us, who are (in theory) more knowledgeable of the True Runes and surreal wars, to find and gather the Shards. The only thing we know is that the Shards also react to each other, so if we had at least one Shard, we could start proactively hunting down the others.

Then again, since the “world” is moving through the void while you sit there, you could technically find a Shard just by sitting around. Not that you would know it was there.

Oh, one last thing that was said, but didn’t make much sense: “the Shard will survive the Revolution, even if it’s outside the Chamber of Passover.” It’s cryptic, but every bit of help is needed.

I say this now because … I’m the only one left. I’m the only one left in this castle, and if, somehow, this letter survives, it contains everything we learned during our time here—sadly, not much. I don’t know when the creatures will be back; they enjoyed toying with us, and I don’t doubt that that’s what they’re doing now to me. I don’t expect to survive past nightfall.

Forgive me for not watching your back better, Chris.

And if you’re out there, old hag, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do. I mean it.

~ Nash Clovis Latkje

P.S. Whatever you do, do not trust Leknaat. The seer is insane.

*DANCES*
I remember you talking about this fic back during Chaos days. OMG. So excited to see some notes of it!

It was an RP idea first. I remember you asking if I'd mind you turning it into a fic and me being like, "what are you dumb? WRITE IT." =P

Which is still my opinion on the matter, of course.
