One great movie
Just got finished watching the Japanese movie Casshern, which my brother borrowed from our cousin. The movie threw so many curveballs it was a little hard to understand everything, and the flashbacks throughout the movie made it confusing. But ... the ending. Damn, I haven't had such a good cry in a loooong time. It was depressing, powerful, and captured the utter grayness of war -- with religious undertones to explain the supernatural death/rebirth stuff, of course.
Very awesome movie. I recommend it over just about any other movie I've watched lately.
Of course, I'm saying this from the perspective of mainly storyline. =P
Just discovered the movie's based off an old anime series. Sounds interesting, though it sounds like the reincarnation twists are only in the movie, and that was what I liked the most of the movie. Well, that and the lack of a good vs. evil theme.
I cried when I saw Commander Kamijo carrying his father up the steps. I loved how all the flashbacks at the very end showed a better time for all of the people...
Same goes for Barashin. I'd been trying to figure out what the importance of him introducing himself was ... then it showed the doctor looking at his body, and I suddenly remembered the doctor saying he had a son around Tetsuya's age... Then the flashbacks of them together... Arrrrgh... *weeps*
Akubon's death was so sad. I cried for him more than any of the other characters, and there was a lot of death in this movie. x_X He was so determined to protect Luna, and he got stabbed and dragged around so much... Poor guy.
Burai looks like Maou Dante/Son of Sparda/Devil May Cry whatever. But he ... is so much cooler. And has many more layers than Dante got in three games. -_-;;
