More Suikoden drabbles
Title: Under His Dominion
Fandom: Suikoden
Word Count: 243
Rating: 15+ for ... angst and religious connotations
Author's Notes: A Luc monologue. It's rambly and confusing, but it's a very old drabble I pulled out to finish. This isn't part of my Silverberg drabble collection.
"A god without dominion, providence, and final causes, is nothing else but Fate and Nature." -- Isaac Newton
I believe in God, and I suppose God believes in me.
He believes me to be a threat, and that is why I will not succeed. And I know that now, at the very end.
He will come to smite me, even if it is not in an invisible force that I have come to believe Him to be. He will come in the form of Fire and Water and Light and Earth -- all under His dominion.
He will come because I threaten His existence, and that is why I will die amongst these forgotten stones. I will become like them, a body laid bare and yet mysterious in every way.
It is something I have to accept, just as everyone accepts the sky to be blue and the grass to be green.
He will keep me from reaching my goal, perhaps ironically at the very last possible moment. I will be ready for Him, because I have been ready to die from the moment I was aware.
Aware of Him, aware of myself, aware of the utter futility of humankind.
That is why it is so easy to say that I am not human. I cannot be human to face Him, even if I yearn in the deepest part of my being. If I am human, I will be under His dominion, and thus controlled by Him.
If I lie outside His dominion, perhaps I can shatter the fate of humankind.
Title: Sinister, Conquered
Fandom: Suikoden

Prompt: Black
Word Count: 591
Rating: 16+ for sensuous actions; implied yaoi
Author's Notes: Taking more creative liberties … but they’re based on information in the games, really! This is part of the Silverberg drabble collection.

Finished: July 25, 2006
Albert never looked at his left hand unless it was brought to his attention. Even when it was hidden underneath the fabric of his black gloves, he could imagine the intricate lines that were all but burned into his skin like a tattoo. Even when his right hand clasped his left, he could almost feel the thrum of power that emanated from the rune.
Yuber, however, had no qualms with drawing the hand out from his coat and removing his glove, tracing the pattern with knowledgeable grace. He would have an utterly unreadable expression as he gripped his wrist and brought his hand to his lips, repeating the tracing with his tongue.
Off of the battlefield, this act was one of the best reminders of Yuber’s inhumanity. His eyes would flicker intensely after his little ritual, and then he would rake his tongue over teeth. Albert wondered if he did this to openly torment him, or if he gave the same treatment to all who wore his rune. Either way, he was unable to do anything about that matter; the summoning ritual stripped him of control of the rune and anything that the black knight wanted out of it.
Even though Luc and Sarah also had been given the black runes through the contract, Albert bore the strongest connection to Yuber due to being the summoner. As such, he received the brunt of the demon’s attentions.
To say the least, he disliked said attentions greatly.
There were times when the demon would go further. The rune would shudder on his hand when Yuber drew blood, as if reacting to the violence its siring True Rune created. The rune would paralyze him when Yuber made his advances, completely bent to the will of the Eightfold.
During those times, he could not do anything to protect himself. More often than not he was bared with feline amusement, his body no longer his as the demon marked him with teeth, nails … and even his blades. He was not even allowed to scream as Yuber manipulated him like one would a doll, his eyes open and mind aware as he was stripped of control and dignity time and time again.
Other times, he would find himself blacking out for varied amounts of time. This was less common, as Yuber seemed to prefer having his contractor awake and alert. But the times that he blacked out were frustrating, because there was no way of knowing what the demon did to him during those times. And, of course, Yuber had no intention to ever divulge that information.
For the most part, he tried to ignore it. It was the price he paid for the demon’s services, after all. Yuber would follow his plans as they related to the battlefield and indiscriminately kill all who stood in the way. He would even lend his True Rune from time to time, summoning forth demons that Sarah would in turn multiply through illusions.
The only thing that the demon required for his services was his summoner’s left hand to bear his mark. And, after the contract had expired, an additional sacrifice was made. There was no telling what Yuber would ask for, but Albert had long ago come to the conclusion that it could not be anything debilitating, as his grandfather was still alive and well years after the summoning.
For now, the only thing he would have to worry about was the black rune -- the Conqueror Rune -- on his left hand, and all that it represented.
