Tales of Legendia AU - Dressing Up Wally
Norma was a giggling mess.
It was hard not to be in a wonderful mood. She was practically dressing her companion.
Walter tried his hardest to keep a straight face. "Norma, it's not that funny."
"It's like looking back a hundred days ago. It is funny." Norma smacked his back, bouncing on her toes playfully. Walter was once again wearing the familiar black and orange Orerines clothes he had worn before -- or amazing replicas of them.
Norma wouldn't have been surprised if that was the case; some of the Ferines were falling over themselves to help their Merines.
Stella hid a smile behind her hands as she watched from the door, but Walter quickly took notice of her when he glanced at a nearby mirror. "Tell her it's not funny, Stella," he sighed, jumping when Norma tugged roughly at the back of his shirt. "Norma!"
"You two are funny," Stella corrected, her hands slipping from her face as she walked into the dressing room. "Someone would think you were married."
"Oh, c'mon, Stars!" Norma laughed and turned to the blonde, not at all flustered by what was being implied. "You've just got marriage on the brain."
Stella's smile spoke of a secret that only she knew, but she just laughed lightly. "I guess so," she relented with a wave of one hand. "I hope you two make it back in time for the ceremony."
"We're just heading for the Crystal Forest, Stars; we'll just be a hop, skip, and a jump away," Norma declared. "It shouldn't take too long at all, you know?"
Walter snorted audibly, crossing his arms. "Not unless you decide to take a nap on a mimic bed again."
"Hey! That was only once!"
"It only takes once," the blond man shot back over Norma's shrill voice.
"Are you two going to be off soon?" Stella intervened, wanting to know what was going on before things deteriorated into an argument.
"Just as soon as I get Wally dressed!" Walter rolled his eyes, pulling away from the brunette so he could grab a belt. "He's being really stubborn."
"I can dress myself, Norma."
"No, you can't." As if to prove just how hopeless her friend was without her, Norma marched up and pulled a belt off of a hook. "Two belts. Two."
Stella had to stifle a louder laugh as the two began to squabble over the use of a second belt.

So they're still gonna go off, find the Everlight, and wish for a miracle. Or something. >_>

Shirley didn't ever "die." She was drained by the Nerifes Cannon -- and because of her age and sealed powers, she went into a catatonic state after one charge of the cannon. Walter's dad broke onto the bridge (he's a freaking superman like Senel) and escaped with the dying Shirley. He managed to send her down a river pouring out into the ocean before he was killed.
Since Nerifes is such a wonderfully confusing god, there's no way of knowing how it would react if it was "given" its dying Merines. Nerifes can't do much without an agent, so instead it suspends Shirley -- she won't die, but Nerifes can't heal her. And that's the way she's been for two years. =\

...awww poor Shirley DD8 So she's going to be like that forever? If she is, it seems like something the Everlight could fix, though. Also poor Walter, losing his dad like that.

The way Shirley is catatonic is incredibly like how Stella was in the Ruins of Frozen Light. Except, since she's in the ocean, she shares Nerifes' awareness -- so she can stretch herself consciousness out to wherever there's a link to the ocean, which is how she contacts Stella and Walter.
