Icons

I've made more progress working on Minato icons in two days than I have working on Albert icons in two weeks. I still run into the same canon color problems, though. Albert's hair has bugged me for years. And now comparing Minato's eye color between Persona 3 materials and the later versions just rolls over the same nerves. Is it gray? Is it blue? Fanart seems to favor blue, but then shade wildly differs between artists. I've always seen his eyes as gray, but there seems to be this love of contrast between blue and red and-- arrrrgh, what a stupid thing to be annoyed about. u_u

It's to the point where I'm doing the icons with both colors because I can't make up my mind.

I, personally, really love the blue. It really pops out compared to the gray.

I think that's the same mindset most people have when it comes to his eyes. Case in point, the icon I'm using. :|;

second one looks better

Thanks. I'm inclined to agree. Just. Canon can't make up its mind.

I would tell you "his eyes are grey" except there's that cover for P3P where they're definitely blue. I generally go with a blue-grey tone because blue really stands out more. Minato is a pain to color... he's basically black and grey, with the one splotch of blue on his hair, so anything that gives him more color helps the icon.

Thanks for the input, Griff. And I totally hear you on his coloring.

Your icons are really cute though, especially the one up there.

Thank you! That means a lot coming from you, after you've made so many of the icons I've used.

Second one looks awesome. Um...you wouldn't happen to know the female protagonist's name do you?

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think there's a name that's used in any medium like "Minato" for the manga. I've heard different fandom names like Minako and Hamuko, though.

Second/thirding/whatever-ing everyone on icon two looking good! Personally, I'd just go with whatever stands out more since the grey looks slightly bluish anyway. Or maybe grey tinted with blue helps?

I like the blue but what is that icon you are using in your post. WHAT IS ALBERT DOING.

[identity profile] greyangel.livejournal.com 2011-02-12 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
I kind of like the grey, but I can see how the second icon is more appealing to people in the sense that it does stand out more. Maybe it just depends on the lighting at the time?

/and seconds Eggy on the Albert icon.

They're right, W-what is Albert doing in that icon.

Also, gonna have to say blue as well. Has more impact.

If it makes you feel better, when I do get off my butt to color I run into the same problem with Frey. Official art has his eyes as grey, but the game itself has them as a very vivid blue. I just shrug and go with blue |D
