"Spring break" vacation, day 1
Mar. 30th, 2011 12:35 amLeft home just after 7 AM. Been on the road most of the day, only stopping for breakfast, lunch, and rest areas. Fiddling with an internet-capable smartphone and trying to do tags with it is ... hellish. How do people do that?
I found it more comfortable listening to my mp3 player and staring out the window as we drive. Lots of random snippets of stories come to mind as I listen to music, and I imagine opening/closing sequences for my various stories.
...I don't quite remember what song it was that made me think of it, but I ended up making a mental comparison of Suikoden III's True Rune bearers and Ronin Warriors/Samurai Troopers.

...And then there came the weird thoughts of how the other four armors would come into play. :|;

I've made more progress working on Minato icons in two days than I have working on Albert icons in two weeks. I still run into the same canon color problems, though. Albert's hair has bugged me for years. And now comparing Minato's eye color between Persona 3 materials and the later versions just rolls over the same nerves. Is it gray? Is it blue? Fanart seems to favor blue, but then shade wildly differs between artists. I've always seen his eyes as gray, but there seems to be this love of contrast between blue and red and-- arrrrgh, what a stupid thing to be annoyed about. u_u
It's to the point where I'm doing the icons with both colors because I can't make up my mind.

Anyway, I was looking at old Word docs while I was sorting through transferred files from my old hard drive, and I found an unfinished "100 questions" list for Yuber and Albert that I had been translating from Japanese. It was fan-made and had references to Yuber/Albert, of course, but I thought it was funny and neat to read over.

So I'm still chugging away at that last meme I posted. I just couldn't stop talking about AU Walter. Next would be AU Chloe and AU Will, which will ... probably be difficult, considering I haven't fleshed the two of them out much! At least it wasn't Moses or Jay.
Spent some time trying to write up some of Filial Walter's "personality" ... which ended up being an extension of his background. Ugh. Whatever. They just blend together anyway. I just want it done soon.
Went shooting last night with my older brother. I'm still terrible with the kickback of a .22; I was just getting used to it after the first three times we went out, but then I didn't go shooting for, like, a year and now I'm back to flinching every time I pull back the trigger. I don't think I'll ever be getting up to a .45 again. u_u The .22 rifle wasn't as bad; I at least expected the kickback when I shot. Using a scope is entirely overrated, too -- I much preferred the satisfaction of looking down iron sights.
My brother didn't get to show me the M1 Garand he has since we needed to go in the special range for high-powered rifles. He's been interested in the rifle since we started playing Call of Duty 3; he wants to let me hear the "historic ping that would tell the enemy when you were out of ammo."

Final Fantasy IV DS
Aug. 7th, 2008 03:07 amI like what they've done with the DS remake. The bosses are fairly difficult, but I still haven't had to level grind, really. I've only been fighting around Agart to get ready for the Tower of Zot, since I remember Zot and Babel being huge headaches in the SNES version. I wouldn't mind at all if they remade FF6 with this graphics engine.
Playing the game's making me remember why I liked Edward and Tellah as much as I did when I was ... what, 15 years younger? (Good grief, FF4 in 1992. Wow.) I'm tempted to write something with Walter and Tellah about "that special place in hell you go to when you throw your life away."
...Man, it's tempting. The idea of Walter trying to take on a mindflayer cracks me up.

Apr. 27th, 2007 03:32 pmSo I helped out with the Engineering Open House all day today. I'm finally off and going to do a bit of work before going back to the apartment. Then we're going out to karaoke tonight. Not a bad Friday.
I've got crappy homework due, though. Ugh. I need to make another style template for stupid 407 and actually do my coding for 438. *coughs* And hopefully James will get back to me about the presentations we're supposed to do. (30 minutes on coding technology? I'm gonna die.)
Kingdom Hearts has proven to be a decent muse. I've got the entire Organization crowding in my head; once in awhile, Vexen blows something up and reminds me how freakishly green his eyes are, or Luxord stresses the ni in Organization, or Xigbar turns his guns into a sniper rifle... *sighs happily* And the crack in the fandom is nice after thinking too hard with the Suikoden fandom.
Of course, when I have the opportunity to get any doujinshi I want comes up, the first thing that comes to mind is "Alllllbert." Funny how that works, huh?
