Fandom meme. Someone please tell me to go sleep. u_u

Give me a fandom and I'll tell you something I hold as my personal canon for that fandom. It might be some small, insignificant detail or it might be completely off the wall. You can also tell me about your personal canon for that same fandom.

Needless to say, I highly encourage the stealing of this meme because it just sounds like so much fun.

Was thinking about writing about school and stuff, but ... uh... Yeah. School = not terribly interesting. Just presentations and a midterm and-- nngh, I've got another presentation next Thursday.

And posting this drabble snippet here because it's just been sitting in a private entry and will more likely than not not be finished. Meh.

"Tell me something, sister. Why do you still visit me?"

"Are you really that surprised? I barely remember our parents, and Uncle is not exactly someone I want to sit down with."

"And what about your old lover? He's near here, isn't he?"

"... I don't think so."

"A sore subject?"

"Just a bit."

... And it just took me a minute to find this Laharl icon. Wow. Going sleep now.

Final Fantasy VII! And I'm so stealing it. 8D

Have fun! :D

  • Tseng was a member of the Wutai army and defected during the Wutai-Shinra war. He cut his hair as a sign of severence from his home country and has been growing it back ever since.
  • His weapon of choice is an eastern-style sword.
  • Reno is an explosives expert. Elena was brought in to replace him after the dropping of the plate because she has similar talents.
  • All of the Turks' weapons were specially made by Shinra's R&D. Scarlet herself applied dual element attributes to the weapons.
  • Scarlet is a former Turk.
  • The Shinras name their children after their favorite colors. My name for President Shinra was Azul ... and then DoC came along eight years later. >_>

You need to finish that.
*Begs*

I wasn't going to, but in honor of Arty's icon... Tales of the Abyss.

*snerk* Totally didn't see that coming.

  • To his attendants' dismay, Peony bathes his rappigs personally and lets them run around the palace to "dry."
  • Peony schemes with his rappigs. He especially enjoys talking to Jade about Jade.
  • Arietta's height is a result of her largely protein-based diet. On the plus side, she doesn't break bones easily.
  • Dist and Legretta actually get along well. They particularly have to talk a lot about her fontech guns and numerous upgrades of Oracle Knight equipment.
  • To his eternal irritation, Sync shares quirks with Ion and does some things exactly like him. What those are, I still have to brainstorm on.
  • Largo enjoys tea and rarely drinks alcohol (habit from his times in the desert).

I'm going to be totally unpredictable and ask about Suikoden.

[identity profile] daathic.livejournal.com 2007-02-09 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
And I'm glad you did! Suikoden's still my favorite to write about.

  • Soledt accepts children as young as 12 to enter the academy. Students are put through a four-year program of basic strategic principles, after which they graduate and are free to return home. Graduates may return to Soledt to continue their studies by either receiving recommendations from alumni or established strategists, or writing a thesis and letter of intent.
  • Albert inherits his hair color from their mother, while Caesar inherits his from their father.
  • Gremio was not technically revived; his soul is still bound to Soul Eater and he can take on an incorporeal form.

I'm interested in your personal canon for Suikoden, too. It's not often I see you talk about it, so... Share? ^^;

[identity profile] hopechan.livejournal.com 2007-02-09 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooh, I like the Gremio one. That opens up all sorts of interesting possibilities.

I have a whole long list, pretty much all Silverberg-centric, like:
-Caesar is an epileptic. He'd attended Soledt for a while, but it had been too stressful for him and had thus triggered an attack, so he'd dropped out. Later in his life, Albert started developing symptoms as well, but kept them secret.
-Lucretia, after Suikoden V, had gone to teach at Soledt, and ended up as Albert's teacher. (I wrote a fic about that one.) That's how he ended up with a position in "another country" - Lucretia got him a position working for Queen Lymsleia in Falena. Later on, there's a war between Harmonia and Falena over the True Runes, and Albert officially defects to Falena. He marries Kyle's daughter, a Queen's Knight, even though Kyle scares the bajeezus out of him.
-Caesar and Albert's mother is a member of the Latjke family. They're both Nash's second cousins.
-George Silverberg wasn't at all faithful to his wife, and eventually ran off with another woman. His wife, Maria, eventually remarried with a commoner and had another son.
-Rural Harmonia maps onto rural Russia - a lot of the traditions and superstitions are the same.
-Lucretia is Lucia's aunt.
-Leon is Hugo's dad. >=D

Heh heh, I always love reading about your Silverberg-centric stuff. And I remember you putting Caesar's epilepsy in something... Hm ... was it Sanguine? I forget.

I really love the Falena tie-in. I'd played around with Albert's other position being in Falena, but the reason he'd get in was by giving information on the True Water Rune (yeah, I don't know why, either). He would be a mole reporting the location of the Runes to Harmonia, and then war. The mole and defection stuff was going to happen in an RP where Harmonia and Falena went to war... *wonders if the RP's still gonna happen* But a great big "YES" to the Lucretia-Albert connection and eventual job in Falena. Much love for Burning Bridges. (Guess that means Lucretia decided to see past his immoral strategies?)

So many family connections. Nash being related to them somehow scares me. *laughs* The Lucretia-being-related-to-Lucia really doesn't sound far off ... though I'm curious about the significance of Albert and Caesar having a half-brother.

Gah. Sorry! I'm picking your brain here.

[identity profile] hopechan.livejournal.com 2007-02-09 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know why I'm so in love with the epilepsy thing. I guess because of the Caesar-Caesar connection? Also, I remember hearing once that Albert Camus was epileptic, though I haven't been able to find any evidence anywhere to support that. So, there it is.

Actually, Lucretia never actually does see past his immorality, which is why she gets him the position. She knows he doesn't much care if what he's doing is wrong or right - she calls him a tool, even, heh - so she decides to put him in the hands of someone she knows will use him for the good. He takes offense at her explanation, but appreciates the opportunity, and while he's there he sort of learns morality. (And then he defects to Falena and barely manages to talk Sasarai down from sending the Howling Voice guild after him.)

Phillip - their half-brother - is sort of part of my personal Albert Isn't Such A Bastard arc. He'd always had a really strained relationship with their mother and disapproved strongly of her remarriage, partially because he idolized his father and partially because he had this weird quasi-Oedipal thing going on with her, and so he transferred a lot of that disgust to Phillip, who was a good-hearted and smart but not brilliant kid. Gradually, though, he grows to accept his little brother, and through that accepts his mother's marriage, and through that patches things up with his mom...just before she dies.

And that RP sounds awesome. (Though it's funny that our Alberts end up on opposite sides.) Is it going to happen?
