My leg hurts...
Jun. 8th, 2004 10:31 pmWent to the Bridges4 reunion party today. It was really nice to be around them again; I really felt like I had made friends over the school year while being around them. I felt really close to them, even though we barely knew each other and saw them even less than I've seen some other classmates.
Let's see if I can remember everyone... Joanne, Marissa, M'liss, Kathryn, Hamdi, Gerard, Chris, Jason, Imani, Mindy, Emanuel, Michelle... I think that's everyone. We had a lot of fun.
First we walked from McCarty to the Mongolian Grill, where we ate and met up with Imani. It was great, being able to catch up with them even though I'm not majoring in medicine anymore. I also liked how we were all on the same page about a lot of things, such as classes and dislikes about the school year.
After eating at the Mongolian Grill, we went and ate at the Mix. Gwah, ice cream... It took a long time circulating through everyone, so I actually finished my ice cream by the time we left. x_x
We went to play volleyball after that (except for Hamdi and Emanuel, who had to study), and Gerard and Jason disappeared for awhile to help a friend park his car. Since the people that were playing on the volleyball court were going to take awhile, someone (I think it was Imani) suggested that we play volleyball on the tennis court.
As Joanne put it: "We are SO ghetto. I can just imagine the people passing by, seeing us... 'Damn minorities. Playing ghetto volleyball on a tennis court.'"
It was kinda ironic that all the people on the volleyball court were male, blonde, and white. Just made it even more amusing. It was all in fun, though. :P Joanne reminds me so much of Arlene from high school that I could shut my eyes and not be able to tell the two apart if they were both talking.
We were all playing together; Michelle, Mindy, Marissa, me, Joanne, and versus Imani, Chris, M'liss, and Kathryn. When Gerard and Jason showed up, Gerard joined their side and Jason was with us. (Yes, I like these odd details.) My side was giggling like idiots under the sun, and I don't know if it was because of the heat of the sun or the silly way we were playing the game.
An hour passed and the volleyball court opened up. M'liss, Michelle, and Joanne had to leave, so Imani, Marissa, Kathryn, and me played against the three guys while Mindy ran off to get water. The court was made up for beach volleyball, so half of us had our shoes and socks off. In my case, I kept my shoes and socks on in addition to my jeans (but, hey, that's a big step from wearing my jacket everywhere). I was having fun chasing the ball and running to set up shots, since I was the only one on my side that had played volleyball on a team. ^^; Not that 8th grade junior varsity volleyball really counts as much...
Anyhow, one moment I can't get out of my head was when Imani yelled out in a taunt to the other team after I had served two clean shots and dove and successfully rallied two games alone.
Imani: "How do you spell 'Athena?' P-O-W-E-R!"
Chris: *starting up just as Imani is spelling out the word* "Uh, how do you spell 'Athena?' It's A-T-H-E--"
At that point, everyone was laughing. Poor Chris.
My leg's been hurting since last night for some odd reason. It bothered me when I tried to go to sleep early, and studying was difficult because of the odd pain. It bothered me right up to after the chem final, and I don't recall it hurting since then. Maybe it was a stress mechanism.
On another note ... I'm feeling much better now. I had a long talk with Amy and we started up a conversation again. Thanks a lot, Amy. Take care, and I hope that sun-induced headache goes away. x_x I think I have a sun-induced headache too, and my upper lip feels sunburned.
