everlastingsoul: (Laharl - Slumber on)
I'm at home for this week, so I haven't spent as much time online. Between chores and watching tons of Law & Order (all three versions of it), I've gotten lazy about doing stuff on the computer. Eh heh...

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] loves_a_dustbin, I have been watching Ouran. I've decided that, though I like all of the characters, I can only handle so much Prince Type-liness at a time. He's funny, but his wooing gets old. Cool Type is my fav, the Little Devil Types are so into each other, Loli-Shota Type makes me giggle, and Wild Type's best moment was still in the first episode. The Natural Rookie Type annoys me at times because of her lack of interest in ... ... well, anything but studying. C'mon, do something sporadic and fun for once!

Then again, I've only watched six episodes. Maybe something will happen in the future.

I also need to take a picture of Renge. High Power Motor action!!

Ahem. Yes, onto other things. *coughs*

Haven't been writing lately. Finished another scene in the Suiko modern fic, but don't know where to focus for the next scene. I've started out with Leknaat and Sarah, but I'm getting nowhere fast with it. Bleh.

[livejournal.com profile] yubberducky's Malus fics have made me think of little boys with violins. So cute.

Yawn...

everlastingsoul: (RO - Some things need no explanation)
Woke up at 9 AM to go to work. Mm... Jason's not in today (or maybe just not yet), so I'm wondering if I should even be coding right now.

Writing modern fic is a nice change of pace. I'm having a lot of fun imagining Albert battling a spazzy laserjet printer. And Lilly ranting at him. There's also Flik riding a motorcycle with Odessa and Mathiu picking [a very young] Caesar from school for choir practice. Not to mention Luc, Sasarai, Nash, and Lena being a fairly popular rock band.

Someday I'll post it.

Finals week

One down, another one to go for the day.

... Stat 322 was disturbingly easy with a sheet of notes. There was only one part that I didn't write a complete answer to, and that was one of the problems that the professor said she had made some calculation errors. I just scribbled down the formulas you would need for that problem before turning it in.

I hope I do well with that one. The last time I was confident with the midterm, I ended up doing less than stellar on it. I think I supplied enough explanation this time through. I've never had a prof that wanted so much written explanation for a calculated answer.

Another final at 1:30. I'm just sitting in my work lab ... waiting.

A modern Suikoden fic's been churning in my head lately. I blame a song I recently listened to.

Luc and Sasarai were the initial idea. Sarah, Albert, Caesar, Dios, Mathiu, and Odessa randomly popped up in head as the ideas kept changing. Want to put Nash in somehow, and if Odessa's in there, Flik might float in, too. The most recent idea is a breakfast scene, though the one that keeps coming back is a rock concert scene. Blond, frail Hikusaak disappears and reappears once in awhile. Luc and Sarah slow-dancing, too.

I love how random my ideas are. There's this wonderfully HUGE disconnect between things. *shakes head*

Also have two more Silverberg drabbles/ficlets/whatever in the works... Albert's children finally make their appearance in one.

All fandoms you have ever written in: Gah... Some of these, I'd rather not remember writing for... Ronin Warriors/Yoroiden Samurai Troopers, Sailor Moon, FF4, FF6, FF7, FF8, FF9, FF10, FFX-2, FF Tactics, FF7: Before Crisis, FF7: Advent Children, Fushigi Yuugi, Castlevania 64 (Legacy of Darkness), Harry Potter (oh so briefly), Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto, Invader ZIM, Dynasty Warriors, Growlanser II: The Sense of Justice, Suikoden I through V, Digimon Adventure, Digimon Adventure 02, Ragnarok Online (as opposed to the manga and anime), Disney's Aladdin (the animated series), Douglas Niles' The Moonshae Trilogy, Star Ocean 2: The Second Story, Star Ocean 3: Till The End of Time, Mega Man, Tales of Destiny and 2, Tales of Eternia, Breath of Fire III, Phantasy Star IV, Escaflowne

First fandom written in, and when: I guess this would be Ronin Warriors in summer of 1995; I eventually posted some of those stupid things on the internet a year or so later. I was writing RPs as early as early 1994 with Mega Man X, though.

Main fandom: Suikoden, most definitely. Despite attempts to go back to FF7 and wander over into Growlanser, I've been utterly trapped in Suikoden. And I love every moment of it.

Number of words devoted to fic so far: I honestly don't want to hazard a guess. Ronin Warriors alone would be over 400 pages of [crappy] writing.

Favorite piece you have written: Probably ... ... "Emilio Gilchrist." Tales of Destiny will always have a soft spot in my heart because it manages to stay firmly wedged in my mind, and Leon Magnus never bores me.

Least favorite piece you have written: Uh... I can't narrow this down to one. My early Ronin Warriors stories, because Anubis died and came back to life so many times he'd give ... I dunno, soap operas a run for their money. "Nuclear War Games," in which Seiya and Taiki go crazy and somehow manage to blow up the world with a tank and submarine, was also pretty damn bad.

Single piece you'd want to be remembered for if you stopped writing now: Probably "Darkness Bloom," which no one remembers about anymore. :P It was coherent, twisted, and -- IMO -- awesome.

An idea you keep returning to: Resurrection, reincarnation, cloning, and amnesia. I also agree with Mith's "fate biting people in the ass" bit.

Favorite pairing: Hm... I don't like to focus on romance because romance can go so wrong. But... Ken/Miyako (Yolei), Dias/Rena, Gizel/Sialeeds, Yuber/Albert, Nash/Albert (IT JUST WON'T LEAVE MY BRAAAAIN), Albert/Chris (fairly implausible, but it's a guilty pleasure of mine), Luc/Sarah, Edgar/Kika, [FF6] Edgar/Terra, Isaaru/Yuna, Tseng/Elena, Tseng/Rufus, Nakago/Yui

Pairing you'd never write: If I don't have interest in the characters, I won't make the effort it takes to write a plausible pairing.

Favorite genre: It's not a genre, but epics. DAMNABLE EPICS. I can't contain my complex stories to one-shots.

A completed piece you would like to rewrite: "The Insane." It was a great FF crossover, as well as my longest piece.

Work in progress that you just can't get off the ground: Journeymen's Survival. It's been on the ground for TWO YEARS.

And I end with a lovely, lovely quote.

"Those flowers you gave me tasted really good, Albert."
