everlastingsoul: (FF7 - Rufus back from the dead)
I'm disappointed in myself. Here I am, trying to have a relaxing weekend after ... a damn load of work that has been making my weekdays stressful, and I get surly at the idea of having to spend time away from the computer. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I'm obligated to do a lot of work on the computer, and then my brothers don't understand that my idea of relaxation also involves using the computer. So they pull me away to do other things.

As well-meaning as they are, it makes me wish I had a car. I need the freedom to not be pulled around by them every time they want to do something I don't consider fun.

The battle log went up for the Luceti intruders event, and I wanted to jump all over it ... or at least stalk it while it was going on. But I could never decide what I wanted to do with my characters, and I ended up missing the whole thing when my weekend got busy. I just ended up throwing in an ooc note after the fact, since the log's closed to new threads. Meh. At least I got a ton of stuff going on for the battle preparations?

I'm not entirely sure what I want out of Luceti right now. There's potential for Walter, but it's sorta reliant on a thread that's backlogged into eternity now--and now reactions would be off and very strange. So I don't know how to salvage that idea. Albert just went and departed for the twilight zone on me during the whole adrenaline-rush-and-crash of the event, so I'm debating what to do with him.

Edit because I need to gush: Caesar and Albert's interactions are so amusing. I'm really enjoying the awkward-but-somewhat-not-dysfunctional dynamic they've got going on. Their latest interaction, with Caesar's reaction straight out of the manga ending, was enough to make me smile. Made me wish I had an icon of Albert's back-turned goodbye wave.

Nightshift started at Damned, and I still haven't posted for Minato. I ... have a beginning post half-written up, and I'm quietly proud of my creativity with getting him a 'starting weapon' (broken plastic hanger, anyone?), but I don't have any solid plans for him yet. He needs to copy stuff off of the bulletin board, try and steal a CD player from the music room, look for the others... I need to stop being a chicken and PM Yukari or Junpei.

I need to see if I can get out of the campus appearance on Thursday; I really don't want to have an on-site meeting this week, with my needing to be in a different city on Friday. Hopefully my manager will be understanding and let me phone in.

Juggling several video games at the moment. Pixeljunk Monsters on PS3, Professor Layton and the Curious Village on DS, Tales of VS on PSP, and gonna try Titan Quest on the PC for my brother's sake. Hoping to finish Professor Layton soon so I can stop staying up late trying to figure out puzzles.

The Enneagram Test /hi5 to Kukki )

It's pretty accurate, though some of the childhood things don't quite fit. And there's nothing about how much one can angst about being too logical. 8( *ANGSTS LIKE A HALF-VULCAN*

Still very busy. My manager should be coming back soon from PTO, and then I'll hopefully be free from all this extra work. And then I'll just be "busy" instead of "very busy." :|b

I'm very happy to be RPing with Caesar again. ♥ I just hope my RP canon isn't too fml for her. There didn't seem to be any issues with it, but I worry since Albert doesn't come across as an angstbucket. And he shouldn't, other than the whole thing about already establishing Caesar is his weakness. *headdesk* It's been so long that I've forgotten these things. I really need to write them down. So I'll try to make use of that long-ignored musebox.

I've been Damned. It's been pretty cool. tl;dr.

Going to the parents' house this weekend. Older brother's gonna go fishing, and it's ... just been a long time since I've been home. I think the last time I've been there was ... July 3. Wow.

Mr. Nightroad, you are not allowed to come out and play. I don't have the time or energy to do the proper research it would take to play you, or the icons to put in a journal for you. Akihiko, same goes for you. Except I actually have icons. Blah.

Still digging through my doujinshi to see if there are any pictures I want to use for Albert's account. 雷の音 [Sound of the Chariot] has some 17-year-old!Albert pictures, including this one where he shrieks at Yuber for slaughtering a guy out in the middle of the street. :|;; Way to be subtle and all that.

I'll probably end up going through the manga and rescanning as many images as I have the patience to do. I'm realizing the scanning process on my current laptop is different from my previous one, so half the pictures have a different ... quality from the others.

FRWL: Time traveler!Albert based on The Time Traveler's Wife? That would be bizarre. Abel would probably fit FRWL well, but I'm not playing him. I need to strike a balance with Albert so he's not boring for me to play, but not "SUPER SPECIAL." This is why Chrno Crusade-ish!Albert will never go anywhere. Ever.

Things to do:
-- Fill out the relationships lists for Albert (Raine, Genis, Sheena, Ted, Luc, Sasarai, Nina, Yuri Lowell, Vyse, Yuan, Lloyd, Estelle, Usagi, Cloud, Sigmund, Taichi?, Roxas, Atoli, Jacob, etc...) and Walter (Leon, Ruto, Haruki, Stella, Shirley, Senel, Norma, Musette, Guy, Aegis, Eiko, Calypso)
-- Dig up their past ooc meme responses and post them in either my RP musebox thing or on their journals
-- Update Albert's abduction details with his fourth abduction (I am so hilariously happy that the self-plotting of the Malnosso's interest in the Pale Gate Rune worked so well with the developing plot. Of course they could show interest in a rune that opens gates to other worlds.)
-- Post with Walter? (probably delay until his birthday)
-- Threads with Ruto, Luc, and Haruki
-- More RP essays for the musebox ("state of the headspace," missed opportunity w/ Luceti!Albert and Cyril?, the evolution of Rune the fairy/elf owl)

I like how I'm making all these RP tasks for myself when I'm going to have a fairly busy two weeks. I'm taking on content management duties for my manager and being her main POC while she's out, keeping track of the hour tracking system we've just been introduced to, and doing my own work on top of that. Fuuun.

And I FINALLY found the song that I had been using for The Edge of Sanity years ago... Bard Dance by Enya. Hurrah!

I've been meaning to archive all of my fanfics for a long, long time now. Seeing the announcement that GeoCities is closing in October just kinda made it that much more ... apparent that I should probably archive. I wonder what I'm gonna do when LiveJournal dies years from now? ...Oh, wait, there are actually third-party things that will make that easier. *stabs GeoCities*

What to start on first, though...? I keep thinking Legendia, since I'd be able to post a link to the talesoflegendia comm afterwards. But bah, I dunno. Suikoden is massive because of all of those Silverberg drabbles, so that would take a long while.

...I don't even remember what other fics I have posted on this LJ. Hrm. KH?

The Portraitist

Random, Character-Oriented, Platonic

As a Portraitist, the character is everything to you. You value the character's personality and development more than anything else, and your goal in roleplay is to flesh the character out in any and every way possible. You're the method actor of the roleplay world: you know your character through and through (you've probably done a ton of research) and you enjoy throwing your character into new and random situations just to prompt interesting reactions. However, you're hard to involve in any plots, mostly because ongoing stories that don't focus on exploring your character's innermost depths quickly bore you. Also, you might like to put your character in tragic/stressful situations a little too much.

Since I probably won't post tomorrow, happy early Independence Day, Americans. :) Don't get your hands blown off by fireworks.

So my brother and I arrived back home at ... around noon on Saturday. We ate dim sum with my younger brother and his girlfriend, then unpacked a few things and ... pretty much crashed for the rest of the afternoon.

My older brother and I went to grab dinner and ice cream in the evening, and we started unpacking the rest of the crap from the car. My right knee gave out while I was getting ready to bring in a second load of gear/clothes/whatnot, and I collapsed right out there in the parking lot, dropping everything -- including my cellphone, which was still going because I was talking to my mom at the time.

Longest three minutes ever, lying there on the pavement with my brother testing my knee. I somehow managed to jam a rolled-up sleeping bag under my head so I could lie there hissing in pain. Then my brother helped me to my feet and helped me put weight on my knee again. It was kinda surreal, and I'm embarrassed/amazed at myself that one of the first things I said to my brother after "My knee hurts" and "I don't even know" was "Thank you for being here."

And then I started laughing and such as I limped into the apartment with bags, because I had thankfully not snapped something in my knee.

I guess my knee giving out like that could be a delayed reaction to our hiking on Thursday. My family has a genetic predisposition to weak legs/knees because of my mom's side, and my brother had been limping on the way down the mountains.

It's kinda funny. I had been telling my brother on the way down the mountains that, unlike him, my "bum leg" problem manifests itself in my knees, and give me no warning that my knees are about to give out other than a little bit of shaking. My knees don't even complain with the steep inclines and declines.

Ironically, my knee gives out two days after the hike. I guess I could've been unlucky and collapsed on the way down Vernal Falls. That would have been ... depressing.

Lalala...

In Rocklin, CA. Shopping for home supplies with brother's former house ... lord or something. Tired and hot and ... mosquito-bitten. Aching from hiking up two waterfalls in five miles. Legs are hating me.

Anyone want to tell me what I'm missing?

Going river rafting today. Cursing at myself because I can't find one of my pairs of windbreakers. Where the hell could I have put them?

River rafting today, no rest tonight, little sister's ballet performance on Sunday. I always hate weekdays that devolve into going to work and then going to sleep; I hate weekends that follow that pattern even more.

Work contract extended into Q3. Don't want to review proofs on Tuesday, but will have to anyway. Ugh.

Just some fic ideas that never went anywhere.

Title: The Fate Woven
Series: Kingdom Hearts/Loom (as in the LucasArts game, yes)
Original concept: The Age of the Great Guilds continues, surviving the Third Shadow and the unmaking of the Great Loom. Three Shadows had befallen the land, each time stripping the earth bare as chaos rents the entire world and corrupts all in its path. Only those that are able to transcend the world’s pattern are ever allowed to escape, and even they do not take well to such an idea.

The 20 years following the Third Shadow have been kind to the noble Guilds. Communications have been established with the Weavers for the first time in generations, and new blood is entering the Guild after the Rules of Membership were amended by Elder Bobbin. Life is simple and slowly returning to an upswing of activity.

And then five gray threads appear in the Great Loom.

The Fate Woven )

Title: Reflect, Refract
Series: Kingdom Hearts
Original concept: While taking a break from research, Ienzo finds a strange mirror in Ansem's possession allows him to see whatever he wishes. After a few rounds of trying to confuse the magic mirror, Ienzo says what he fully expects cannot be answered.

“Mirror, mirror, on the wall—show me anything, everything, and nothing at all.”

When next he gazes into the mirror, Ienzo finds himself staring at a terribly familiar young man.

The young man introduces himself as Zexion.

Oh hell yeah. That was the most satisfying defense I've ever done in Travian. Never mind I had to dodge the final attack because my hero was reduced to 1% health, but that was still awesome. ^^

Been playing a lot of Dynasty Warriors lately, when I'm not over at my parents' house. Kinda want to play the PS2 Dynasty Warriors 6, if simply because I want to play Cao Pi in Musou Mode. I need to buy Dynasty Warriors 5 also. In the mean time, I need to finish the Wei campaign in Warriors Orochi 2 and level Zhang Liao on DW6. I hate how almost everyone looks in DW6. :\ Especially Liu Bei.

And I've been playing RO on a pserver. I like how I always create Albert, Shin, and Lucifer as my first three characters, even if I ... haven't touched Albert or Lucifer yet. I'm using my archers first even though I like magic users more.

From July 2008. Wow, took me ages to put this up, huh?

=======

Before meeting Chloe, Walter had thought the knights of Gadoria were all but a lost cause. With the monarchy and the central government in Baltoga scattered, and almost all of the military bases decimated by the relentless assault of the Nerifes Cannon, Gadorian forces faced the decision of certain death versus absorption into Crusand's ranks.

Several Gadorian knights, known for their sense of honor, chose death over being forced to join arms against their former allies.

He found it easiest not to talk to Chloe about her past. The girl had already lost her country, as well as countless friends and family members; it was hardly a polite topic to breach with a new acquaintance.

Norma, on the other hand, found no problem in asking about anything and everything. It made evenings very awkward for everyone.

So it really came as no surprise that, when the opportunity to avoid another uncomfortable evening arrived, Walter and Chloe leapt at the chance.

"A ruin, huh? I knew I was traveling with you guys for a reason!"

Walter gave his friend an unimpressed look, joining Chloe at the ledge to point out the odd pillars that were almost completely hidden by leafy trees.

"What a weird place for any sort of building," Norma commented, hopping right past her two traveling companions to land on a lower ridge. "Kinda looks out of place." She stood there with her arms akimbo, tilting her head this way and that as she contemplated their next action.

Chloe was the next to descend, securing her scabbard at her side as she stepped over the edge. "We're well over a day's way from the closest road, and there's no signs of trailblazing, old or new, down this slope. I doubt the ruin is Gadorian."

"Could be from the Kingdom of Terises era." Norma continued down the slope, skidding short distances between ledges as she went along.

Walter was right behind the two girls, grimacing as clouds of dust were kicked into his face along the way. He spoke with a slight rasp as his damaged lungs dealt with the dust. "You think everything is from that era. There aren't any rivers or lakes nearby."

"Rivers, maybe not. Lakes? Possibly. How about ponds?" There was a singsong lilt to the brunette's question as she headed towards the treeline.

Walter muttered something under his breath, rolling his eyes. "Radiants didn't live in ponds."

"I have scientific proof that Shining Ones were like giant amphibians!" It was like an inside joke between the two, with only Norma fueling the fire. "Someday, we'll find a giant lillypad in one of these ruins!"

"No, we won't." The best way to derail Norma's thought process was by stopping it in its tracks. And since Walter couldn't very well push her off the slope... "Rexalian?"

"The Holy Rexalian Empire doesn't use pillars in its architecture," Chloe interjected, shaking her head and briefly dusting at her belt as she reached level ground. "But ... maybe they aren't pillars? This area did belong to the empire until about a century ago."

"The sooner we get there, the sooner we can find out!" The youngest of the trio pumped her fist in the air, her bubble wand raised like some sort of lethal weapon. "Let's go, let's go!"

As Norma charged into the forest blindly, Chloe glanced over at her more exasperated companion. It was obvious that this was a fairly common occurrence. "You're a very dedicated apprentice, Delss."

Walter knew it was supposed to be a compliment, but it did little to soothe the beginnings of a headache.

Hrm...

Seeing Mith's entry about one of her fics being translated into another language made me remember something from a few years ago.

Five new doujinshi today: the Tales of Legendia MAG Garden anthology, two Persona 3 doujinshi, a Tales of Destiny one, and a Suikoden II one that I think is Tir/Luc.

I've got another batch of Suikoden III doujinshi coming in from Celga; should be in around Tuesday. Two parody Destroyers books, Akage Saishou #1 (read: more Albert), and ... something else. I can't remember for the life of me. Whoops. It'll be a surprise, I guess. :|;

In the mean time, some scans from the Tales of Legendia anthology:
Senel the baker
The infamous boat race
Jay and Quppo share a familiar moment 1
Jay and Quppo share a familiar moment 2
Senel earns the title Unreliable Brother 1

In other news, more lsdkjfsldfs Travian crap. Hopefully I can get through all of it.

I can't find my notebook with my full version of this drabble. ARGH. I really wanted to write everything down, right this second, but I don't remember how this started.

Walter and Chloe had a silent understanding. They didn't talk about their pasts.

Unfortunately, this understanding did not extend to Norma. With her two traveling companions doing their best impressions of brick walls in front of the camp fire, Norma was left filling the silence with whatever she could think of.

Questions. Random questions. Invasive questions. Questions, questions, questions.

Man, Tierkreis makes me remember Suikoden Chaos, the RP that I co-modded a few years ago. I'm feeling inspired to actually continue writing the story... I forget if the fanfic idea sprouted from the RP or if the RP sprouted from the fanfic idea. [livejournal.com profile] nata_de_coco, you might have to refresh my memory. ~_~ I do know that the cast for the Zero Revolution was based on the Suikoden Chaos cast that I could work with.
