Added a few icons and replaced my Luc icon so I'm not using fanart anymore. It's always nice to cycle some icons around...

Bleh... I'm not looking forward to going to school tomorrow. I missed three days of school last week and I imagine it's gonna be a pain to catch up again.

Things to do this week:
-- Pay and mail light bill tomorrow
-- Pick up package from post office tomorrow
-- Do assignments for 402
-- Find out about website design plan for 437

-- Supervise Career Discovery Week forum on Tuesday
-- Go to MSTC get-together on Tuesday(?)
-- STC meeting in computer lab on Tuesday

-- Segment transcript for work by Thursday

-- Get some ideas for Depiction assignment for 411 (due Friday)
-- Write Depiction assignment (and make slides) by Thursday
-- Practice for Depiction presentation (~_~) by Friday

-- Talk to Amanda and Eliot about Online Ad Designing presentation (~_~;;) for next week
-- Pay credit card bill sometime this week...

I'm amused that I ever wrote this. I wonder why I decided to write about a Suikoden dwarf? A Suikoden dwarf OC, for that matter?

The wind's terrible over here. I've already heard some of the shingles falling off of the roof, and the lights keep flickering. We even lost internet earlier.

I need to finish this portfolio. Tonight, if possible. I'd rather not scramble through it in the morning before packing. And I can't say I'm all too thrilled about going home... I just know there's going to be chores waiting for me there.

... Well, I guess I'm excited to go home. There's always our guinea pigs to pet. And Peach and Pear have a new chick (who my sister decided to name Sweetie). I'm just not excited about the inevitable chores and nagging about getting a driver's license.

Yaaaay...

Almost all done with schoolwork for this quarter... Just have the presentation tomorrow and the portfolio and coding next week...

Then there will be sweet, sweet normal-sleeping-hours again.

Can't wait for the get-together after 310 tomorrow. Sounds like a lot of us are going to The Ram and drinking the past week away. I'll probably be sitting there with Rukaya and Danielle, putting away sodas. I can save the beer experimenting for poker night...

The winter party was a nice success. We had 40 to 50 people come in, and we had just the right amount of food for everyone. We had a lot of beer and wine leftover, but we can use those for other events like poker night and the spring picnic. All the officers are still getting compliments for putting together a party that "blasted last year's out of the water." Heh.

Rose and I spent the last three hours putting finishing touches on the proposal report. She did most of the typing, but I guess a second set of eyes really helped with the formatting issues. I still have to ask her what she used to make the diagram of the business site... Visio, maybe?

The 401 "quiz" (still 25% "quiz" WTF?!-ness in my head) wasn't that bad. I'm always unsure of the revision section, and I know I left the last sentence in passive form, but I think I did well. I amused myself by doing the form of "to be" question last.

Linking verb: I become stressed easily.
Helping verb w/ active voice: I will be very angry soon.
Passive form construct: I have been upset for awhile.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to nap. I want to reorganize my writing LJ and actually use it for fanfics and get this drabble idea out of my head, though. Gah.

I have to say it. I'm very proud of my little professional portfolio. It's not fancy, but I think it's really elegant in its own way. *smiles*

This week's gonna be busy, but I'm feeling really good about it because I've got the portfolio out of the way. Tomorrow's gonna be hellish because of all of the running around for the party, but the party itself should be survivable.

And I won an auction for Tales of Symphonia. And bought a bigger memory card. I feel slightly hypocritical because I've told myself I'll never play ToS ... but whatever. I'll get to judge it a little more fairly now, I guess.

I named my rooster on Harvest Moon Jade. And the first hen? Saphir--who is happily laying golden eggs now. *snerk*

Hooray for Seattle shutting down with 1-3 inches of snowfall! That is currently melting!

Actually, it kinda sucks. I just spent ~40 minutes talking to my president about things that need to be done before the winter party, so tomorrow sounds like it's gonna be crappy. I already sent out half a dozen e-mails in the last hour just to hammer out the next assignment for class and plans to pick up food and wine from Costco.

And still no word from our webmaster and ex-treasurer. Nngh.

And I still have that Visio project that I haven't thought about much. Stupid stuff, really. ... I should send an e-mail to Cy about the splash page. Great.

At least the presentation grades from 400 were good. I was surprised to find out my group did excellently in comparison to some other groups. Guess I should delegate more often... Stuff actually got done in a reasonable amount of time.

Heck no I'm not gonna be STC president next year
everlastingsoul: (Laharl - Slumber on)
I don't even know how much this homework will affect my overall grade. I'm getting a B+ or something as it is. And the only thing that'll really bump that up is the last "quiz" (WTF 25% "quiz!?"). I suspect the ethics reading will be more important overall, so ... yeah. Ngh.

So my younger brother was one of those people that camped out waiting for the Wii. He stayed out there with his girlfriend for 12 hours. Ugh. They bought three Wiis and promptly sold one on eBay. He's waiting to sell the other one that he's not already playing. Basically, the system and games he bought are gonna pay for themselves. I've watched him play Trauma Center: Second Opinion (very sleek in comparison to the DS Trauma Center), and I played Wii Sports and Twilight Princess myself.

I'm more into my older brother's XBox 360, though. He brought home Call of Duty 3 from CA and I've been playing it rapidly whenever I'm not doing work. I saw him playing DoA Extreme Volleyball 2 last night, so I'll give that a spin when I have a chance, too.

I've also played FF12 and FF3 DS. FF3 is fun and cute... Kinda like Children of Mana, but missing the immersive music. And I'm amused that I was thinking "Balthier =/= Mustadio" when I saw him.

It seems like Yuri Lowenthal is everything I've been playing, though. He VAed Reks (FF12), Luke and Asch (ToA), Kevin Winnicot (Xenosaga III), and Derek Stiles (Trauma Center). Must be pretty popular lately.

School-wise, things are looking to get hectic once Thanksgiving Break is over with. I've got 401 homework due on Monday, Definitions & Descriptions revision due Tuesday, Visio assignment due Wednesday, a professional portfolio website due the following Monday... Bleh.

And what am I doing right now? ... Playing around with Sync and Ion pictures while waiting for a lunch meeting with fellow STC officers.

Priorities straight? Nope.
everlastingsoul: (Sync)
The presentation went well. I went off and used some inappropriate words for the tone of the presentation, but I think I covered my points in enough detail. I wish I had timed my presentation; I would feel more comfortable if I knew I was within the 2-4 minute limit.

Bought a new alarm clock today. It's metal-and-plastic and requires batteries (instead of being a wind-up clock like my last one). The clock face has a chicken picture and the frame is yellow. When the alarm rings, you hear a chicken crowing. Hee hee. I loved it the moment I saw it; I was totally intent on getting a cat clock until I saw the chicken clock.

Gotta go to the STC get-together in an hour or so. I'm not really in the mood to anymore, but it would be a good idea. Free pizza and soda, too... Mmm...
everlastingsoul: (Sarah - Whatever it takes)
I'm so tired. I just want to home and sleep.

Of course, since the apartment has shut off the water until 5 PM today, it would be a pretty stupid idea to go back. ~__~ So I'm here in the department lab, thinking about doing work but not actually doing it.

Things to do immediately: (1) revise flyer and send to Kate, (2) call print shop and discuss prices for shirts, (3) send STC images to print shop

Homework tomorrow for 401. Shouldn't be difficult, but I think I'll just get it out of the way a little earlier...

Have to do a website review presentation on Thursday. And a bowling/pizza event for STC. And possibly a talk with a Teach For America coordinator if I actually decide to write back a reply. ... UGH. I totally forgot about the Program Review Committee meeting on Thursday, too. I knew my Thursday was busy, but I forgot why...

Gotta send a resume to Cingular sometime. Gotta remember that... Need to look at Microsoft and Amazon again, too. Consider looking at Wizards of the Coast.

Blah.

Hmm...

Can't wait for Thursday afternoon. I'll be happy to have that three-day break.

I have this annoying burn mark on my neck that I feel very conscious about. I got it at the shooting range when hot brass ejected from the gun and stuck to my neck. (Of course, it hurt like hell.) The mark is circular and very red, so I've been wearing turtlenecks all week. Bleh. As long as it doesn't scar severely, I'll be happy.

There's gonna be a talk session with Google technical writers tomorrow. I've gotta remember to go to it; it'll count towards seminar points and ... well, it's Google.

ToA... Jade can look good in slippers and a bathrobe. Bwahaha. And Peony's got him so whipped it's funny.

Anise is so cute when she's sad. Too bad her voice actor's terrible.

Sync and Luc need to get together and have lovely little angst parties. They can drink tea and grouch about Ion, Sasarai, and the world in general. And then they can fight for bottom.
everlastingsoul: (Ramirez)
Let's see... Where to start...

Last Wednesday, I went out with some friends for a girls' night out following our STC meeting. Rose was feeling under the weather and was in dire need of a drink. It was cool and involved watching Rose and Jen drink shots while we all ate terribly overpriced sandwiches. But it was nice to get out ... though Jen said that she's adamant about taking me out and drunk one of these days. I even watched her text-message her best friend about it. Eep.

On Friday, I went with my little brother to pick up my older brother from the airport. My older brother and his girlfriend cooked nabeyaki udon--and it was a very picturesque affair. He took pictures of it... I'll have to snag them sometime.

We all went home for the weekend, since my older brother hasn't been back for a month. For the most part, I was working on a RoboHelp project, but I watched Hello! Morning (HaroMoni) episodes with my brothers once in awhile. Our parents were wonderful and we had nice dinners in the dining room for once. I guess it was because Karine was there.

After class on Monday, I went down to the WAC with Rose and Danielle to check on how big the room is for the department winter party. Turns out that maximum capacity is 100 people, and we're hoping for a turnout bigger than that, so we may have to rent a banquet room somewhere else on campus.

And today, after a rather bland day of class, I came back to the apartment just as my older brother and Sheng were leaving to go get dinner and go to the firing range. They invited me along so ... guess who went to the firing range and shot at targets? Eh heh. It was fun, even though my thumb hurts from reloading the semi-automatic magazine 20-something times. I even got to put 100 bullets into a body target, which was exciting. I'd definitely go again, now that I know what it's like to hear magnums going off in the next shooting booth. Bleh.

And I haven't written stories in weeks. Oh dear.

Hm...

So I have to create a help tutorial by Monday. The school computers suck arse, so I'm going to try to work on it at the apartment. I can only hope it'll actually work over there.

My older brother's coming up this weekend, so I'm guessing my weekend is pretty much shot. I'm going to go with my younger brother to the airport, and then we'll all be going back home to spend time with our parents.

... I should be doing my work. Just as I thought, I spent most of yesterday resting and not doing anything. At least I started on my resume... ... ... Now I need to hunt down a job profile for tailor it towards.

-- STC meeting minutes (today)
-- Style "quiz" (today)
-- Cover letter & resume (due tomorrow)
-- Audience profile (due tomorrow)
-- Readings discussion post (due tomorrow)
-- Help tutorial (due Monday)
everlastingsoul: (Rufus - Calculating)
Almost been a week since I last posted. D'aww. I've been busy with school, to say the least. And when I'm not at school for meetings or work, I'm at home doing homework and projects.

The pizza event on Tuesday was a romping success. Glowing compliments from the faculty and staff that came and questions from the evening grad students that actually sounded interested in what we had to say. I saw Carleigh, Kate, Mark, and Kyros, and I talked to them and some of the professors. Rose and Jen put me in charge of the camera, which ... was probably not the best of ideas. And the camera was constantly shutting off, complaining about low battery ... so I guess I got in 13 or 14 pictures overall.

Weekly STC meeting was just yesterday, and I've got another one next Tuesday specifically for the winter party in December (in addition to the one next Wednesday). Still need to fix up the format of last week's minutes and type up minutes from this past meeting and send them to Rose and Danielle.

Style practices and Word project/design rationale due Monday.
Cover letter and resume due Tuesday.
Grammar and punctuation test on Wednesday.

Still thinking about buying web hosting. I've decided I don't really want to spend too much money until I feel I'll actually use the space. It's very appealing to have my own domain and webspace, but between paying STC dues and that loan out to my brother, I'm uncomfortable about how little I have in the bank. Holiday season's just around the corner, too.

Besides, fandom nowadays seems more geared towards blogs and forums. Separate fansites seem to be dwindling and small fandoms congregate around one site's forums or something. Back when I first got into fandoms (mostly FF7 and a variety of anime), there were billions of fansites that--while lacking in layout design and whatnot--had their own fun little content and were charming in their own ways. I think that's still true in some cases (Japanese fansites are still plentiful), but the blogs kinda ... change things. Connect and network some people, but leave out the opportunity to reach out to strangers who might be interested in a little content without too much searching.

Or maybe I'm just thinking too much about it. Meh.

Now, off to work and possibly grab something to eat. And maybe buy a new keyring? ... Probably not.
everlastingsoul: (Laharl - Slumber on)
My interest in Lezard Valeth has no right rising from the dead [again]. I blame listening to Koyasu Takehito over and over again...

And I'm quietly psyched over the fact I ordered more doujinshi. Just two more, but one's 140 pages long... cartoon-tv, huzzah, huzzah.

Don't want to go to sleep, but I have lab tomorrow morning... Guh.

Ho hum...

-------

Classes are pretty cool in a I-dread-when-things-get-hectic kind of way. Rebuilding the sentence for effectiveness and clarity for users (usability engineering has never sounded so neat), practicing types of writing for speed and efficiency, and multiple crash courses in designing software with sprinklings of portfolio creation and presentations.

I'm starting to get an idea why this major is in the College of Engineering here. A design project every week? Good grief. I'll be spending hours in lab, especially when we get into tutorial creation...

... On the good side, it doesn't sound like I'll be having any formal exams. Just "quizzes" and tons of reports. Bleh.
everlastingsoul: (Journeyman Nash Latjke)
Fun times, fun times. Got out of my first class early, so I've got ... oh, three hours before my next one. So I'll be here awhile. Yay, but not really.

Hm... What to write...? I've been spending my time the last few days wallowing in writer's block and near-isolation. It's nice and detached and quiet.

I guess I won't have to carry my books back and forth to classes except for studying purposes. I hope the reading's light, considering how many projects (and another portfolio) I've got for just my first class. I always hate that feeling where it seems like I can handle the workload after one class, and then start feeling anxious and stressed after getting the full picture for the quarter. Funny thing is, I can't even begin to imagine what the other two classes are going to be based on -- projects or exams. Hopefully not projects, simply because then I'd be tearing my hair out each week.

Textbooks are looking to be less than $200 this quarter. This is a good thing.

Since beating Xenosaga III, I haven't gone back to playing Disgaea 2 yet. I've detoured over to Harvest Moon: Friends of Mineral Town and, more recently, More Friends of Mineral Town for GBA. I'll be taking a break from that, though, to see if I can beat Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria before school starts getting hectic. I figure I've got about a week, maybe a little less. Silmeria looks gorgeous, from the little I've seen and spoiled for myself. Having loved VP: Lenneth for years, I can't wait to start in on the game... Mm, necromancer.

What else...? ... Nothing's coming to mind. I've got a meeting for STC tomorrow and then a work meeting on Friday. *winces* I'm not looking forward to telling Jason I haven't finished arbitrating yet.

I think we're still on to go to Sushiland tonight. Huzzah, huzzah.

Fanfic contemplations; JS plot-twist spoilers )
everlastingsoul: (Leon - His Fate)
School starts next Wednesday for me. Yeah, I know -- it's quite late. Bah.

Been in the apartment since Tuesday. Had an STC meeting today, so I came up with my brother and his girlfriend. My L&O DVDs came in on Wednesday, so I've been entertaining myself with those. Still waiting on my SVU DVD set, though.

Going back home tomorrow. One last weekend before school starts. Mixed feelings, of course. I want school to start, but I always feel bad when we leave. Doesn't help matters that I sometimes feel resentful of my brothers wanting to spend more time with their girlfriends than with family. Guess I'm just that much of a homebody.

Am also in the process of clearing out hard drive and moving unnecessary things to my external HD. Want to put in Monkey Island 3 again and play it. El Pollo Diablo calls me.

... And now I'm listening to my music collection. Yay Transformers.

everlastingsoul: (Nash - Harmonian smirk)
Well, I've got my final for summer quarter tomorrow, and then I'll be leaving (almost immediately afterwards) for California. I don't know exactly how long I'll be gone, but the original plan was for an entire week; things have been changing within the last 24 hours, but I think we're pretty solid on our plans now.

So I'll be gone for a week. This means that I won't be around for RPing, chatting, or even writing, really. Just a week to relax, recover, and suffocate in a car.

Posting a bit of a fanfic that was started ages ago and is now kicking around again. It features everyone's favorite Harmonian boys post-Suikoden III.

Suikoden: Incubus )

Here's hoping I write some more during my trip. Nash (especially Journeyman!Nash) has been running around my brain lately.
everlastingsoul: (Disgaea - Group hug!)
Well, okay, I guess law has its moments. But I just took my mass media law midterm and it was pretty sucky. Not in a "dear god I think I failed" way, but more in a "good grief why do I need to know every single case we've studied?!" kind of way.

... Dammit, now I have to go look up that Tornillo case.

*read it and comes back; winces* ... Yeah, that's half credit right there. I was way too vague on that one to get full credit.

I will eventually get on AIM/YIM or something and ... do something. Yes. I have been so despondent and/or wrapped up in other things I've completely blocked out RPing and writing in general for the last few days (or maybe even a week? O_o). Sheesh. Talk about a dry spell.

And now work. Let's see how long I'll last.
